Is the weather to bad to do the tourist thing in France in December/Janaury?

We are thinking of travelling through Paris, Lyon and down to the Alps in December or January and are a little unsure whether the weather will be to bad to do alot of touristy things (& walking around etc) - HAs anyone been at that time odf year? What is it like? By mantras08Depends where you're going... and also depends where you're from originally. I.e A Canadian living in Manitoba would find that the weather in winter is pretty nice in France, since it doesn't usually snow and temperature are between - 5 to 0 C. But if you're from Florida, you gonna freeze your butt off. ;-)
Weather prob. won't be that great, rain and humid. But you can definitly stand walking around. And on the plus side, attractions will be less expensive, less queue in museum, nicer people.
I lived in Lyon for 20 years. The weather in December is always really cold but if you are lucky enough, you might have some snow and a bit of sun at the same time. Go to Lyon on the 8th of December because it's a special day there. People celebrate Marie and put candle outside their windows. it's really amazing. You can't miss that.
I've been to Paris in December and January and it certainly is cold but that is to be expected. Certainly Paris does not seem as cold as many parts of the United States at that same time of year. Much will depend on what you are personally comfortable with.

But public transportation is of a very high standard in Paris and even taxis are not unreasonably priced.
