All the above posters are incorrect. I am constantly amazed at people who answer questions they know nothing about. Stick to a topic you have a clue about, it will be more beneficial for everyone.
First, NWA is not a partner or codeshare with Southwest. They are a low cost carrier. NWA is a legacy carrier. We are a codeshare airline with Delta, as well as Continental, and KLM.
Second, the prospect of a strike is very real, I will not lie to you. As for all these supposed injunctions, the initial one was not upheld by the bankruptcy judge. It was only when NW appealed it in a higher court, it was put on hold to allow the judge more time for a descision. That is where is stands now.
That being said, the strike will not be a typical strike. Only random flights will be selected, and the liklihood of your flight being struck is minimal.
I especially like the part about Alaska and Delta being safer. Alaska had a crash a few years ago with no survivors, and Delta owns Comair, who had a incident a few days ago. What an ignorant comment. NWA has one of the best safety records in the industry.
Hopefully that will help you make an informed descision.

Yes, you will be ok.
sure why not? are they te cheapest? try aa.com they usually beat everybody else
To be honest I have not heard very good things about Northwest (or Southwest ) for that matter...and if Northwest is partners with Southwest at all--I would say no...stick with Delta, or Alaska...though they are more expensive the flights tend to be nicer, safer and the people more courteous.
