Is it true that Mcafee are not so restricted with licensing? you can have an expired license for more than a year and it will still download the most current A.V deifnitions.

there is no pros for either nortons of mcaffee. both cost money, and they try and sell you on buying thier suites, both are resource hogs, and to make matters worse, Grisoft offers a free anit-virus program that works 10 times better then either nortons or mcaffee to include finding viruses the norton and mcaffee can not find even when they are fully upto date.

why pay for a license..Go on the net and get something better.
Try Grisoft AVG free edition. Works great and updates every day.
they are both only as good as there last update,dont buy online and do use torrents to get it lol
Lots of opinions in this area.
I used McAfee for a while and it seemed fine, but they had some problems with their updates that caused major system instability (this was many years ago) and I decided that I couldn't trust them. Switched to Symantec and have been happy (and virus free) for about 8 years.
There are (apparently) good freeware AV programs, too. But - in this area I tend to believe that you get what you pay for, and I'm willing to pay for a massive staff keeping things current and deliver software that I trust not to mess things up.
Mcafee is really better than symanctec in numerous ways. First it's very less resource hungry, i mean it's light and doesn't slow down your machine unlike Norton which slows down your machine.Even if u have 1GB of RAM, norton slows down your machine. The next thing is that Mcafee is able to dedect 99.9% of the viruses and is also able to clean most of the infected files. Norton doesn't dedect most new virsues and never has the option for cleaning most of the infected files. you just need to quarantine or delete then.
Licensing is a bit problem with Mcafee, i do agree about it. You need to update to the latest edition in a couple of years,but when cnsidering updation, security and other aspects, Mcafee 10 Prfessional is the best antivirus available on earth!
