What are some affordable accomodation options in Beijing for a stay of 8 months to a year?

I have a potential teaching job there. The web hasn't been a lot of help so far ( babelfish does absolutely brutal chinese translations!)

thank you all so far. this has been helpfulBy disguys_d...

find a roommate and get an apartment. remember to nagotiate the price with the landlord. maybe try looking in the wudaokou area (kind of like the university district), there are a lot of foreigners from all over the world and a lot are looking for roommates. the hua qing jia yuan apartment complex is nice and right next to the light rail which makes getting into the center of city quick and easy. plus there are a lot of bars/clubs and stores in that area.

hmm, well maybe you could stay with one of the vendors while you are there? you know you could work for them after you teach. or you could just live on the streets. i dont know which is better for you but i think id go with the vendor job to live somewhere. or you could google hotels in beijing. cheap hotels.
There are ample places around, however you should try to be more specific, like what is your budget?
Your school should provide you a room for free (or super cheap) if you are a teacher. If not, ask your school or a Chinese person to look in the newspapers for you -- i know for a fact you can rent cheap (less than $100 US ) in Beijing if you don't mind a small apartment. If you need a hotel go to the Andingmen hotel near Andingmen subway station ($25 per night)
there are a lot of private-own student dorms only cost you $4 a night and have internet access!! but their living facility could be extremly poor, like live in the basement and shower in pubilc bath house...they usually don't post ad on Internet, but you could easily pick one up around Wudaokou or areas near Universities.
at my girlfriend's, but I won't give you her address...
