What the first person that answered doesn't tell you, is the reason for the brain drain.. and that is because, for example the misinster of safety and security for south africa makes comments like, if you don't like the crime, leave the country.
And so lots of people have, hence the drain...
I am not saying there is anything wrong with SA at all, its awesome and beautiful and I am moving back soon...

well it'll be pretty easy for you to find a job because you are a professional. We have experienced a brain drain in sa... so we are desperate need of professionals.
Its a subjective thing to ask what its like to live here. I like it, not all of it but most of it atleast. Its pretty cheap and easy going expect joburg where everyone is in a rush ALL the time.
I live in Johannesburg South Africa. I love it here. We have all kinds of weather here but never desastrous. .Well except the occasional flood at the coastal regions. Durban can be considered as Exotic with hot, humid weather all year round. Cape Town in the most southern tip of Africa is a tourists destination. If you are bringing GBP, prepared to suddenly become rich! 1 GBP is equal to about 13 South African Rands. To put this into perspective.. a can of coke is 5 rands at the most. To buy a brand spanking new 2-bedroom townhouse it will cost you about 800 000 rands for a decent one in a pretty decent area.
I say come & enjoy it. Let me warn you though. Theres no wild animals running around out cities!
S.A. is a beautiful country,and still fairly unspoilt,the people are really friendly,the crime rate would take some getting used to, its like living in a country at war with itself, we seem to have bred a nation of criminals with little regard for life. If u take care and live in less populated areas however it is a really good life with much to offer. Beatiful beaches,wildlife,people the good outweighs the bad by far.
