how does a dual layer disc differ from a regular dvd disc?

By lady_tige...DL DVDs work the same as regular CD/DVDs by burning an opaque imprint on the dye layer of the disc creating a 0 while the transluscent areas represent a 1. A DL disc has two of these layers allowing for (essentially) twice the normal DVD capacity, whether it be on the same side or you have to flip the DVD and burn the other side.

you can burn twicw as much stuff
Hi. The laser can focus at two depths and record info on each.
